Migration Scams
Beware of Unregistered Migration Agents
Migration Agents Registration Authority (OMARA). Registered migration agents are the only professionals authorized to provide credible advice and assistance with your migration process.
Unfortunately, scammers still operate in 2025. They may impersonate F4MG, the Department of Home Affairs, or other official agencies to trick you into sharing personal details, paying fraudulent fees, or signing fake agreements.
At F4MG your security and privacy are our top priority. We will never request sensitive information via unsolicited calls, emails, or messages. If you receive anything suspicious, do not respond—report it to us and the authorities immediately.
Avoid Falling Victim to Australian Visa Scams
Scammers use fake websites, emails, and phone calls to mislead individuals seeking visas for Australia. They may claim to represent the Australian Government, offer “guaranteed jobs” with visas, or request large payments.
Warning signs of migration scams in 2025 include:
• The “agent” only provides a name and mobile number.
• Requests for large upfront payments for an ETA (Electronic Travel Authority) or Visitor visa.
• Promises of work rights on visas that do not allow work.
• Being told to set up an ABN (Australian Business Number) to work on a tourist visa.
• Handwritten or fake documents and photos as “proof.”
• False guarantees of Permanent Residency.
• Misuse of the Australian coat of arms on websites or documents.
• Payment offered below the Australian minimum wage.
• Being told you don’t need a Tax File Number (TFN).
• Visa processed only via cash payments or third-party accounts.
Engaging with such scams can result in:
• Loss of money with no visa outcome.
• Visa refusal or cancellation.
• Entry bans or deportation.
• Exposure to forced or exploitative labour.
How to Protect Yourself
• Department of Home Affairs is the only official provider of visas. Use: homeaffairs.gov.au
• Official government emails end with @homeaffairs.gov.au or @abf.gov.au.
• Pay visa fees only through ImmiAccount on the official site.
• No one can influence your visa outcome—only Home Affairs decision-makers decide.
• Check migration agent registration at mara.gov.au.
• Never share or send original identity documents to anyone. Certified copies may be requested but should never be kept by agents.
• Only share sensitive data (passport, financial, or identity documents) on secure websites
Stay vigilant. Stay informed. Stay safe.
Your journey to Australia should be secure and transparent—don’t let scammers take advantage of your dream.
