820 & 801 (Onshore Partner) Visa
The Partner Visa (Subclass 820 & 801) allows the spouse or de facto partner of an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen to live in Australia. This visa is for applicants who are already in Australia at the time of applying.
You first receive a temporary visa (820), followed by the permanent visa (801) after a qualifying period (usually two years).
Eligibility
• Must be in a genuine and ongoing relationship with an eligible sponsor.
• Be in Australia at the time of application and decision.
• Meet health and character requirements.
• Provide proof of shared life (finances, living arrangements, social recognition, commitment).
